Only a select few formulas and shades have surpassed trends and become iconic in their own right — and one such shade is Charlotte Tilbury's Pillow Talk. I wore the lipstick for a recent evening of dinner and drinks and was pleasantly surprised by how well it held up. After finishing dinner, I had lost only a bit of color. I reapplied for moisture and longevity more than necessity. I did not reapply beyond that and, after hours of drinking, I posed for a selfie and my lip color was still in pretty great shape.

I liked this color in the tube, but it just didn't work with my skin tone; it seemed to have a gray tint to it when it was on my lips. I have fair skin with a generally neutral undertone but with a cool pink/red tone on my lips and cheeks. This color would have looked fine on a "younger" me, but not on the currently-aged me. Another long-time iconic product is the Matte Revolution Lipstick in Pillow Talk ($34), which claims to be a "moisturizing matte" and a perfect partner for the coordinated liner. I am warm undertoned; olive who looks grey in winter and dirty honey coloured in summer.
After a day of wear I feel that my lips could use a balm but not completely parched either. It lasts through sipping and light snacks but is gone after an actual meal. It does last longer with a lip liner in a similar shade underneath. The sample lipstick has a light sweet vanilla scent that is very reminiscent of the MAC lipstick vanilla scent.

After trying Charlotte Tilbury's Matte Revolution lipstick in Pillow Talk and pairing it with the Lip Cheat liner, I can totally see why these products are cult favorites. I just felt like it had a tendency to emphasize my lip lines a bit as some color pulled into them. Finding the perfect pink lipstick can be a balancing act.
I have a tiny sample size of Pillow Talk, so perhaps there's a difference between the sample and the full size. I was so excited to get the sample, but the color is not at all what I expected. If I apply a light layer, I'd say it looks like a warm pink.

If I apply it a little more heavily, it comes out as almost a bright coral. Not only is it not "pink," it's not a "nude," either. It does give a bit of a smoothing effect on my lips. It has a slight slip when first applied but seems to dry out a bit during wear.
